THE Nokia 8, one of the handsets strongly rumored to be outlined at HMD Global’s MWC [Mobile World Congress] 2017 keynote next week, has been listed on China’s Jingdong e-commerce site, aka JD.com.

You may have heard the name before. To recap, it’s the same site where the Nokia 6 has been made available exclusively despite strong demand, as the number of anticipated buyers ballooned past 1.4 million.

The first Nokia-branded Android smartphone eventually made its way outside of China, landing in the Philippines, where it briefly — and unofficially — sold for P18,590 or about $370. A not-so-modest sum for a midranger, Nokia-branded or otherwise.

Unlike the Nokia 6, however, the Nokia 8 is believed to carry flagship specs, sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or 821 system-on-a-chip, alongside up to 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage.

And if the listing is any accurate, it could feature an almost-edge-to-edge display (reportedly measuring 5.7 inches and running at super-sharp, quad-HD resolution), in addition to a Carl Zeiss lens, which is a staple among Nokia handsets of old. The Nokia 8 is also expected to house a 12-megapixel selfie camera and run Android 7.0 Nougat, like the Nokia 6.

As for the price, the phone should set you back 3,188 yuan, or roughly P23,400 or $463, according to the listing. Not bad for a high-end model, though it might not make a huge dent on the OnePlus 3T‘s market — surely, not with an outgoing Snapdragon 821 processor under the bonnet. And no, you can’t preorder yet.

Naturally, despite being widely reported, you should take this news with a grain of salt, as nothing has been confirmed by HMD Global. And we’ll probably never hear anything until it’s finally time to officially drop the Nokia 8 on our collective heads.
