SO apparently, there’s another version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 that was not announced at the phone’s launch. Today, Microsoft has confirmed that there will be a Samsung Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition (this includes the S8+, just to be clear). Unfortunately, it won’t be available in the Philippines.

The special edition will come bundled with Microsoft apps. Sure, the company’s Skype, OneDrive, and OneNote were on the Galaxy S6 and S7. But this time, it seems that Microsoft and Samsung have taken their partnership to another level.

Besides Office apps that can also be found on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ unveiled on March 29, Cortana, Outlook, Excel, OneDrive, OneNote, Skype, Bing, and MSN News, among others, will be included in the special edition. The customization will be applied as soon as the smartphone is connected to Wi-Fi.

The productivity apps will then be arranged on the home screen, so the Samsung Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition can provide “additional accessibility to other Microsoft-owned applications such as LinkedIn, Wunderlist, and more,” a company spokesperson explained to international tech site Engadget.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition is now up for preorder at the big M’s retail stores in the U.S. We’re assuming the 5.8- and 6.2-inch variants will still be priced at $750 (P37,682) and $850 (P42,706), respectively.

Here in the Philippines, the Galaxy S8 will go for P39,990 ($797) while the Galaxy S8 Plus will cost P45,990 ($917). Preorder starts April 17 and ends on the 29th, with availability set in mid-May.
