WHILE bold and beautiful and affordable, we found the Doogee Mix to be a mixed bag that will delight and disappoint buyers. The follow-up, the Doogee Mix 2, looks promising — and fortunately, we don’t have to wait too long to know for sure.

We’ve just received word that the Doogee Mix 2’s target launch in the Philippines is in November or December, less than a week after the company posted a teaser of the phone’s impending unveiling in the country.

The exact date is up in the air, but it’s good to know that the wait won’t be exhaustively long, especially since Doogee Mobile has not specified a date of release — nor has it given us any hint at how much it will cost.

We reckon it will go for the same price as the first Mix (with 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM) in the Philippines, starting at P12,995 or about $253. For the uninitiated, the Doogee Mix 2 will feature a 6-inch display with a full-HD resolution on an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The bezels on the side are pretty much non-existent, while the forehead and chin are much more visible to accommodate a selfie camera and other components. The lack of hardware buttons on the front means the fingerprint sensor has been relocated to the back of the unit.

The Doogee Mix 2’s face-unlock feature

Similar to the original, the Doogee Mix 2 has a dual-camera array, with 16- and 13-megapixel sensors this time around. The front also gets two 8-megapixel cameras — one with a regular lens and the other with a wide-angle one. The selfie camera can also be used to unlock the device.

A MediaTek Helio P25 is still paired with 6GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage, while the operating system of choice is still Android 7.0 Nougat. The battery capacity is pretty generous, coming in at 4,060mAh.

As always, we’ll report back once we get the full details. Until then, keep those fingers crossed for a release date soon.
