More exciting news for the archipelago: Vivo will hold an event in April 2018 to introduce the Vivo V9 to the Philippine market. Before that, the V7 successor will stop by in India for an official reveal slated for March 27, according to the Indian media.
News of the upcoming smartphone announcement was revealed to us at Revü by a source familiar with the company’s immediate plans in the Philippines. Barring another reveal — which seems unlikely as it stands — the V9’s debut will mark Vivo’s first major announcement of 2018.
We already caught a glimpse of the Vivo V9 last month, when it appeared on a billboard in Indonesia proudly sporting slim bezels and a display notch that is home to what is supposed be a 24-megapixel camera. Another promo material later surfaced showing the rear of the phone, as well as the vertical dual cameras and fingerprint reader planted on the panel. The backing appears to be made of metal with a matte finish.
Details have been thin on the ground apart from what has been confirmed about the Vivo V9’s external looks. The Vivo V7 and V7+, which launched late last year, see a Snapdragon 450 processor under the hood, so it’s possible that the V series follow-up will take advantage of a newer, more powerful Snapdragon 636 — or even 660 — platform, alongside a sharper 18:9 display, which would explain the alleged price hike.
There are whispers that the V9 will be priced at around 25,000 rupees (approximately P20,000 or $384) in the subcontinent.
We’ll have more about the Vivo V9 in future posts, so check back regularly.
