OPPO recently added a new smartphone to the A series, though it remains to be seen whether it will be offered in markets worldwide. The OPPO A5 will arrive with a notch LCD display and a high-capacity battery powering a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor inside when it goes on sale in its China.

Before the A5 came, the OPPO A1 and A3 saw a limited release window that did not include the Philippines. Will the A5 follow in their trail? Who knows. If it does make it to the local market, it could be one of OPPO’s top contenders in the “affordable yet great” smartphone segment, next to the P13,990 (around $263) OPPO F7 Youth.

OPPO F7 Youth. It does look like the OPPO A5, though the latter has two rear cameras.

Speaking of, the OPPO A5 looks identical to the company’s MediaTek Helio P60-based device, except there are two cameras on the rear panel instead of a single solution for taking pictures and video. The back also has a shiny, glossy look, with a defining diamond-pattern design. The main camera is comprised of 13- and 2-megapixel cameras.

On the front, you’ll find a 1,520 x 720 screen measuring 6.2 inches and an 8-megapixel, f/2.2 camera at the top, beside the earpiece. Additionally, the front-facer will feature the company’s AI-driven beautification filter that can identify 296 facial spots to deliver customized results, just like on the F7 Youth and other OPPO handsets.

The main attraction here is the OPPO A5’s 4,230mAh battery, which is expected to provide 14 hours of continuous video playback and 11 hours of gaming between charges.
