The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S has only been on shelves since April and is still being sold in some markets, including the Philippines where the top-end phone will officially run you P27,990 (roughly $525). Nevertheless, a sequel is apparently underway in the aptly named Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.

In fact, the phone has been a fixture in the rumor mill for the past couple of weeks. There have been plenty of leaks thus far, but none more exciting than this latest one — a purported live image of the white Mi Mix 3 variant (seen above). The photo first appeared on the Xiaomi MIUI Global channel on instant-messaging service Telegram.

It shows the front of the phone and confirms the screen stretching almost entirely across the panel, with minimal bezels that are about the same size. The earpiece speaker is mounted slightly above the display, but there is no sign of a camera for selfies.

Which brings us to this next point: The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has been rumored to feature a pop-up camera similar to that of the Vivo NEX. The leaked image seems to confirm what many have said about the upcoming device. Of course, the phone pictured above also looks to be running the Chinese version of MIUI, Xiaomi’s popular Android skin.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 image shows no sign of a selfie camera. Could the front shooter be a pop-up, just like on the Vivo NEX (pictured) then?

As for the specs, word is the Mi Mix 3 will come with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in memory. The main camera is supposed to have dual lenses, but we won’t discount the possibility for three rear-facing cameras like on the Huawei P20 Pro.

An earlier leak had suggested that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 could have a Ferrari edition. It will supposedly be priced as low as ¥3,399 (P27,305 or $512) for the base version with 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM. The price goes up to ¥5,299 (P42,568 or $798) for the top-of-the-line edition with a ceramic body and 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM.
