The Mi A2 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage was supposed to retail here at P14,990 (around $282). Now, it’s just P13,990 ($263). The 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB Mi A2 Lite models, on the other hand, was expected to land in the Philippines with respective P9,990 ($188) and P11,990 ($226) price tags. The base model now sells for P9,490 ($179) while the other one costs P10,990 ($207).

We wonder what happened to the 6GB/128GB edition of the Xiaomi Mi A2, which was supposed to go on sale in the country for P17,490 ($329).

Competition must have something to do with the move to make the smartphones more affordable. Honor Philippines, for one, is offering its gaming-focused handset with Kirin 970 processor, the Honor Play, for only P15,990 ($301). We say it’s a good decision on Xiaomi’s part then.
