The Honor 8C, which launched in other markets last year, has finally arrived in the Philippines, and it brings a bunch of decent specs — including dual rear cameras — to go along with its reasonable price tag.

Locally, the Honor 8C is priced at P7,999 (roughly $152 converted) for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model and comes in black, blue, and gold colors. It will be available offline from March 30 onward at Honor stores and partner retailers nationwide.

Online store Shopee will also offer the phone from the said date, but the first 200 customers who purchase it through April 6, or until supplies last, are going to receive a free Honor Band 4 Running Edition fitness tracker. Further, the first 200 Shopee users who buy the Honor 8C will also be entitled to an P800 ($15) discount voucher if they spend at least P5,000 ($95) more on other Honor products on the platform. However, this promotion is available until March 31 only.

For the price, you’re looking at the first handset with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 under the hood. Honor pairs the processor with a 6.26-inch LCD display with, unfortunately, a comparatively big notch at the top and a thick chin down under.

We haven’t had time with the Honor 8C to directly compare its gaming and day-to-day performance. We do know it packs the same GPU as the Snapdragon 450, but it has a better CPU architecture, so it should provide more computing power than any chip from the Snapdragon 400 series.

We don’t think it’s fast enough to beat the Snapdragon 636, though, which is to say it likewise can’t match the hardware firepower of the MediaTek Helio P60 that’s inside the Realme 3 and many other phones. The non-removable 4,000mAh battery supports fast charging up to 10 watts over the microUSB port at the bottom.

The Honor 8C has a rear-mounted fingerprint reader for easier unlocking, while the cameras at the back include 13 and 2 megapixels, with the latter being a sensor tasked with none other than depth sensing in Portrait mode. The selfie camera should be decent enough for an entry-level smartphone at 8 megapixels.
