We admit we didn’t see this one coming. Besides the Realme 3 Pro, the company also launched the successor to the Realme C1 today, April 22.

As expected from the brand’s products, the Realme C2 comes with a low price tag of ₹5,999 (around P4,453 or $86) for the base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage. The version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage, on the other hand, is retailing at ₹7,999 (P5,938 or $115). All variants will go on sale first in India May 15th. No word yet when — or if — it will become available in the Philippines.

But how is the Realme C2 any different from its predecessor? The change starts with the design. While the young upstart gave the C1 a minimalistic look last year, it has brought back the diamond-cut exterior of the Realme 2 for the C2. The logo now sits vertically on the lower left side of the back panel instead of horizontally in the middle part.

The display may be a bit smaller at 6.1 inches (versus 6.2 on the other unit), but because of the use of a small, dewdrop-style notch instead of something like the iPhone’s, the screen-to-body ratio is higher at 89.35% (versus 88.8%).

The Realme C2 has also dropped Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 in favor of MediaTek’s Helio P22, the same chip used by the Xiaomi Redmi 6. The OS has likewise been updated from Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1 to ColorOS 6 with Android 9.0 layered on top. However, the once-4,230mAh battery is now rated at 4,000mAh. The rest are the same. You can see their respective specs below.
