$1,980 Samsung Galaxy Fold coming to PH. Ready your wallets

Yes, it’s confirmed: The Samsung Galaxy Fold will finally make its way to the Philippines soon.

It would have probably been here sooner had it not been for the serious flaws reported by early reviewers in April, forcing Samsung to postpone the launch of the foldable device and go back to the drawing board.

The protective layer of the Galaxy Fold was easy to remove even if it’s not supposed to be taken off, so the Korean company has added another layer, this time extending it beyond the bezel.

The screen has been reinforced to avoid the appearance of a crease. There’s now a smaller gap between the hinge and the body to keep dirt out of the internals. And the ends of the hinge have been strengthened with protective caps.

Pricing

In the United States, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is priced at $1,980. That’s around P101,397 when converted to Philippine pesos based on the exchange rate today, October 22. So we won’t be surprised if it will retail in the country for not less than P100,000 (not less than $1,952).

Knowing Samsung, it will likely bundle the foldable device with another one of its products. The freebies could include a Samsung television. It will probably partner with a telco as well. Let’s see.

Samsung has promised to “further elaborate on its plans in the Philippines,” so we should know the full details soon enough.
