A member of Vivo Philippines’ digital marketing team has shared that a new Vivo phone is already available in the country. True enough, the said model’s product page is now up the company’s website.

The Vivo Y12A has gone on sale locally with a suggested retail price of P6,499 (roughly $128). You can get it in either Phantom Black or Glacier Blue. Unfortunately, the beautiful Mint Green color variant that’s out in markets like Malaysia and Thailand is currently not being offered here.

How do the Vivo Y12A and Vivo Y12s compare?

Notice that the Vivo Y12A is similarly priced as the Vivo Y12s, which was released in the Philippines end-April 2021 and we reviewed at around that time, too. So how do the two units compare?

While the latter uses a MediaTek Helio P35 chip and ships with a FunTouch OS version that’s based on Android 10, the Y12A relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor and ships with a user interface that’s has Android 11 on top.

The differences end there. Everything else is the same, including a big, 5,000mAh battery; a side-mounted fingerprint sensor; a 6.51-inch screen; and 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage to go along with the chipset. The front and rear cameras, available shades, and design are similar, too.

If you think this smartphone is not for you, there are plenty of other Vivo handsets to choose from. Some of them are discounted today, August 8, thanks to the Shopee 8.8 sale.
