Blind camera test: Huawei P50 Pro vs Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max

In Phones by Revu Team2 Comments

Huawei has launched its flagship P series in the Philippines, with the P50 Pocket arriving on the local market as a camera-focused clamshell foldable and the P50 Pro finally hitting shelves as the best camera phone Huawei has ever produced.

The recently unveiled Huawei P50 Pro is also the current king of smartphone photography in the latest DxOMark rankings, ahead of Apple‘s iPhone 13 Pro Max, another phone that critics and users alike have lauded for its imaging performance.

So it only seems fair that we pit these two premium smartphones against each other and see which one produces better images in an all-out shootout. Yes, it’s time for a new round of camera blind test, this time featuring the Huawei P50 Pro and Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Both are at the top of their class and have the price tags to match their premium looks and high-end specs. This year, Huawei opted for a True-Form Dual-Matrix camera system on the back, consisting of two dedicated cameras for color quality and accuracy; a 64-megapixel telephoto camera; and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide option. It’s still designed in partnership with Leica. The iPhone, on the other hand, packs a triple-camera array, comprised of three 12-megapixel rear cameras, same as 2020’s top-of-the-line model.

As usual, we’re putting two photos shot on the two flagships side by side, and you get to decide which picture looks more appealing based on your personal preference. After submitting your choices, you will know which camera-centric flagship suits your vibe better. To be fair to both devices, the photos used in this camera test were selected based on a variety of lighting conditions and real-life usage scenarios.

Scroll down when you are ready, and let us know which photo in each set looks better for you.

If you ask us, we think the pictures shot on the Huawei P50 Pro look nicer, especially with the colors being close to true-to-life. With the P50 Pro, what you see is basically what you get — and that will always earn high marks in our books.

But once again, the process of selecting photos is subjective. What we like and what you like may be different. Ultimately, it’s up to your particular preference when choosing between each set of photos.

Care to tell us which flagship you ended up with? Is it the P52,999 (around $1,033 converted) Huawei P50 Pro or the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max, which starts at P70,990 ($1,384) for 128GB of storage? Sound off in the comments. We’d love to hear from you. If you happen to prefer the Huawei, take note that the device just went on sale in the Philippines. Here’s where you can buy it and its foldable sibling:
