Infinix Mobile will launch a new entry-level smartphone in the Philippines on April 18, presumably to allow the country’s predominantly Catholic population time to observe Holy Week.

(Update, April 19: The Infinix Smart 6 HD has been launched the in the Philippines! Preorder price and other details here.)

Based on the listings we found at the brand’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee, it’s the Infinix Smart 6 HD, which should not be confused with the standard Infinix Smart 6. The latter comes with 3GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage and carries a suggested retail price of P5,490, or around $106 converted.

If you’re looking for something more affordable, the 2GB/32GB Infinix Smart 6 HD listed online should be cheaper, likely priced under P5,000 ($96). It will come in black, ocean, cyan, and purple colors.

The company doesn’t say what processor the Smart 6 HD uses, but the phone will come with a 6.6-inch HD+ screen with an advertised 500 nits of brightness, a 5,000mAh battery, a 5-megapixel selfie shooter, and an 8-megapixel primary rear camera, same as the vanilla variant.

The HD model will likewise boot Android (Go edition) based on Android 11 out of the box. Recall that the Infinix Smart 6 launched in the Philippines is outfitted with a quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 processor that also runs the Go version of Android 11.

On the side, you get a physical fingerprint reader, as opposed to the rear-facing one on the back of the regular version. Besides the different placement for the fingerprint sensor and different RAM/ROM configuration (to go along with an entry-grade Unisoc processor?), the two smartphones are pretty much identical.
