Huawei has lifted the veil off its latest Nova series phones, and with them, the Huawei Image XMAGE imaging brand and products like the Huawei Tag. Say hello to the Huawei Nova 10 Pro and Huawei Nova 10.

(Update, October 10: The Huawei Nova 10 series, which now includes the Nova 10 SE, is launching in the Philippines! Look.)

The company’s newest superstars put the focus on the front, as they bring with them a 60-megapixel selfie camera and the Pro model’s front-facing camera system getting an additional 8-megapixel portrait shooter. Recall that the Nova 9 Pro and Nova 9 feature 32-megapixel main sensors inside their respective punch-hole cutouts.

While the Nova 10 Pro and Nova 10 still have the same chassis as their older siblings, the new smartphones actually look better than those from 2021’s lineup — at least for us. This is mainly thanks to the redesigned ring camera module. Almost all of the Nova 10 series color variants flaunt a golden accent. We particularly like the white version.

The Pro understandably gets a bigger 120Hz curved OLED display. Think 6.78 inches versus 6.67 inches. Its battery is also larger at 4,500mAh and has support for 100 watts of fast charging. The regular model packs a 4,000mAh battery with 66-watt quick charging. Both handsets feature a 50-megapixel triple rear camera, an under-screen fingerprint sensor, HarmonyOS 2.0, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 4G chip.

In China, the two are priced as follows:

  • Huawei Nova 10 Pro
    • 128GB: ¥3,699 (roughly P30,394 in Philippine pesos or $553 in U.S. dollars)
    • 256GB: ¥3,999 (P32,859 or $598)
  • Huawei Nova 10
    • 128GB: ¥2,699 (P22,177 or $403)
    • 256GB: ¥2,999 (P24,639 or $448)

Today also marks the “officially official” announcement of Huawei Image XMAGE, which, as we understand, will now be the imaging technology that will power Huawei phones (and we heard Honor and probably other brands?) moving forward following the breakup with German optics manufacturer Leica. It’s confirmed that XMAGE will be present in the Huawei Mate 50 series.
