Confirmed: Vivo will launch the Y02s in the Philippines. According to the brand, the entry-level smartphone — and the successor to the popular Y01 — should arrive on the local market this August.

The Vivo Y02s has already been listed on the company’s global website, although we’re not sure which storage variant will be released locally. The phone is available in two colors: the classic Flourite Black and Vibrant Blue, which has a more fashion-forward colorway. Both color options sport a glittery finish, adding to their aesthetic appeal while also providing a more secure and comfortable grip.

Vivo says the Y02s is one of the slimmest mobiles in its price segment, with the handset measuring just 8.15mm at its thickest point. That’s notable considering its generous 5,000mAh battery capacity, which should last you days instead of hours.

You get a single camera on the back, though the rectangular camera island features two camera rings, with one housing the Vivo Y02s’ 8-megapixel primary sensor and the other serving as a flash unit for low-light photography. The selfie cam, meanwhile, uses a 5-megapixel sensor.

Up front, the Y02s packs a 6.51-inch HD+ IPS display with a waterdrop notch for the front-facing camera. Other notable hardware specs include a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage and a hefty battery backup that supports 10-watt charging over USB-C.

It’s likely that Vivo will bring the 3GB/32GB configuration to the Philippines in order to make the phone more competitive locally. On the software side, the Y02s runs Funtouch OS 12 based on Android 12 out of the box, which is good news for potential buyers.
