Well, that was fast.

(Update, January 24, 2023: There’s a Vivo Y02s with double the storage, but is cheaper than the 3GB/32GB version!)

A day after Vivo Philippines emailed us a launch teaser of the Vivo Y02s, it announced that the entry-level smartphone is now available locally. You can buy it for P6,499 (roughly $117) from the company’s e-shop or Vivo’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada, and Tiktok. Every purchase comes with free Foomee earphones and a DITO SIM card.

The Vivo Y02s is the successor to the the popular Y01. It’s equipped with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10-watt USB-C charging, yet the profile is still thin at only 8.15mm thick, one of the slimmest in the handset’s segment.

The rear design is surprisingly good considering its price. You can choose between Flourite Black and Vibrant Blue, both getting a glittery finish. Though, yes, you can see that the front — a 6.51 inch 60Hz screen — still has that waterdrop notch that the brand has opted for many of its phones.

The Vivo Y02s also comes with a MediaTek Helio P35 chip coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel one up front, and a user interface that is based on Android 12.
