And it turns out the smartphone is indeed priced at P12,999 (roughly $239), or P2,000 ($37) cheaper than the vivo Y35 at launch. The new model looks better as well, thanks to vivo housing the 16-megapixel selfie camera in a punch hole this time instead of in a waterdrop-style cutout.

The vivo Y36 is marketed as a gaming-focused phone, with the brand trumpeting the device’s 6.64-inch FHD+ display with 90Hz refresh and 240Hz touch-sampling rates; 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset; 8GB RAM with Turbo Memory Booster; 256GB storage that can be expanded up to 1TB; and 5,000mAh battery with 44W fast-charging capability.

The local launch of the vivo Y36 marks the debut of Filipina celebrity Anne Curtis as, in vivo’s own words, its “newest ambassador for its smartphone releases.”

According to the company, “Anne constantly breaks boundaries as a true powerhouse whose talents span across screen and stage. The actress’ career is a beaming trajectory which vivo envisions to match as it continues to release top-notch devices like the vivo Y36.”
