Huawei‘s first local launch event of 2024 has been confirmed, with three new products set to make their debut in the Philippines next week.

The electronics giant has revealed a January 11 launch date for the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″, Huawei MateBook D 16 2024, and Huawei FreeClip, just weeks after their global unveiling last December in Dubai. According to the company, its new devices will “redefine the way Filipino consumers work, create, and innovate.”

Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″

Starting with the MatePad Pro 13.2″, the latest MatePad stands out as Huawei’s biggest and most ambitious tablet yet, offering a very generous 13.2-inch, 1,000-nit 2K OLED display with impressively narrow bezels, 10-bit colors, and a refresh rate that goes as high as 144Hz.

A productivity-focused machine that’s as thin and light as they come, the MatePad Pro 13.2″ predictably arrives with a new Smart Magnetic Keyboard accessory with a built-in kickstand and full-sized touchpad. It also debuts the brand’s third-generation M-Pencil stylus, which now connects via NearLink technology for short-range wireless pairing.

The laptop-sized tablet is powered by a 10,100mAh battery that supports 88-watt fast charging, which Huawei claims should charge the tablet from zero to 85% in just 40 minutes. Inside, the 13.2-inch MatePad Pro is powered by the latest Kirin chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage and runs HarmonyOS 4 out of the box.

Huawei MateBook D 16 2024

The newest MateBook D 16 refresh fits faster internals in proportions that rival a 15.6-inch laptop while also sporting a 16-inch screen. It is powered by up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H CPU with Iris Xe graphics, but can be configured with a 12th or 13th Gen Intel Core i5 H-Series processor as well.

The local variant of the Huawei MateBook D 16 2024 will pack 8GB or 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of NVMe SSD storage. It will be available in a lone Mystic Silver colorway.

Huawei FreeClip

Finally, there’s the FreeClip, which take a new approach to earphones, clamping firmly to your ears as opposed to classic earbuds that go in ear. They’re also the industry’s first open-ear buds that don’t distinguish between your left and right ears, making them easy to use and comfortable to wear for long periods.

Their unique design makes them perfect for running and outdoor exercise, as they naturally let in ambient noise, ensuring their user is aware of his or her surroundings all the time.

Perfect for clumsy people like us

The FreeClip buds are rated for 8 hours of music playback on a single charge, while the case is good for an extra 24 hours of battery life. Based on our experience, those claims are actually pretty accurate. They carry an IP54 rating for water resistance as well, making them ideal for workouts and use in tropical countries like the Philippines. Huawei will offer its promising new earphones in Black and Purple colors.
