Xiaomi‘s latest global launch isn’t about camera gimmicks; it’s entirely about battery life.
Ditching the 200-megapixel sensors of years past, the new REDMI Note 17 family — which comprises the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, REDMI Note 17 5G, and REDMI Note 17 — lands with high-density silicon-carbon batteries inside. The result is a lineup focused on multiday endurance that makes modern flagships look quite dated by comparison.
These international variants have a few slight tweaks compared to the models recently released in China. If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on one, you won’t have to wait long, apparently. Xiaomi also beefed up overall durability, claiming the IP66- and IP68-rated build can survive submersion in three meters of water for up to 72 hours.
For optics, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G carries a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.5 aperture and a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. Add in Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, and a crazy 400% volume boost from the stereo speakers, and you’ve got a stacked package. It comes in Green, Purple, Black, and Cloud Blush.
