IS Samsung bringing another dual-camera smartphone to the Philippines? A report suggests the Samsung Galaxy J7+ will be offered on the local market soon, sometime in the first weeks of October.

(Updated, September 30: It’s confirmed! Chad Sotelo, country marketing officer, informed us that the Samsung Galaxy J7+ will be rolled out to stores second week of October.)

A quick refresher: The Galaxy J7+ was made official in Thailand earlier this month, adding to the Korean tech giant’s swelling line of lower-end to midrange J7-branded phones. Assuming the J7+ does make it here, it will be the most expensive name in the lineup — and the only one with a dual-camera setup and a non-Exynos processor.

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy J7+ resembles the J7 Prime before it, sporting 2.5D glass on the front and smooth metal around the back, with antenna lines at the top and bottom of the housing. A fingerprint reader that’s built into the home button and a 5.5-inch, 1080p AMOLED screen round up the rest of the hardware.

Additionally, the panel features always-on functionality, which allows you to quickly glance over the time and date and notifications without waking it.

An octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor is said to run the show, which is uncharacteristic of Samsung. Our guess is that the shift from an Exynos platform to the MediaTek P20 has more to do with the rear-facing cameras than it does with anything else. Completing the internals are 4GB of RAM; 32GB of expandable storage; and a 3,000mAh battery that charges over a microUSB connection. Those will be fine for most users, of course.

The highlight of the hardware is the dual-lens setup, which includes 13- and 5-megapixel cameras that work together to capture portraits with a creamy depth of field, or bokeh. The cameras also adds the ability to change the focus of a photo after you’ve taken it. The front-facing optics is 16 megapixels and features an f/1.9 lens, hinting at the possibility of Samsung also marketing the J7+ as a selfie shooter.
