Yup, in case you missed it: You can now upgrade your Xperia XZ Premium to Sony’s Oreo-based UI or user interface, bringing it up to speed with Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones, which run the latest version of Android.

The update, which comes in at around 1.2GB, includes several camera features not found in non-Sony devices, including predictive smile capture, auto-focus burst, and the potentially brilliant 3D Creator app that debuted on the Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact.

3D Creator app

The first-party app lets you create 3D models of your face or other objects for printing or sharing on social platforms. We got to try it out in the demo area of Sony’s Xperia XZ1 local launch event, and we were impressed with the overall quality of the output.

You’ll also get improved sound quality drifting from the XZ Premium’s front-facing speakers, as well as all the new additions to stock Oreo. Stuff like picture-in-picture mode for video apps, adaptive notification dots, redesigned navigation bar and app shortcuts, plus plenty more.
