Antutu’s July list of best-performing Android smartphones looked somewhat similar to the ones in June and May. But the global list for August? We had new players this time around.
Two of the four new entries were from smartphone manufacturers that we don’t normally see in the Antutu rankings. Vivo and OPPO came with guns blazing with their respective flagships, the Vivo NEX S and the OPPO Find X.
The NEX landed second place with an average benchmark score of 288,076. The new Find device, on the other hand, took the third spot with 286,293 points. The only handset that was ahead of them was the Xiaomi Black Shark gaming phone, which has successfully defended its position for four consecutive months now.
The other two new entries were the Snapdragon 845-powered Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 — smartphones with the same processor but come from the different ends of the pricing spectrum. One costs from P55,990 (about $1,053), while the other is retailing from P17,990 ($333), the cheapest device to use Qualcomm’s most premium chip.
The rest in the newly released Antutu top-10 ranking are also powered by Snapdragon 845 — OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Mi 8, ASUS ZenFone 5Z, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, and Samsung Galaxy S9+.
Of the 10 handsets, eight are officially available in the Philippines. Only the Black Shark and the NEX S — the two phones with the highest benchmark scores — are not being sold in official channels in the country.
