Finally: Diablo Immortal, the much-anticipated live-service, free-to-play action RPG from Blizzard Entertainment, has a release date.

The timing of the announcement coincided with Activision Blizzard’s latest earnings report, and the date to circle on your calendar is June 2 — at least for some countries. The good news is that Diablo Immortal will also launch in the Philippines, plus other Asia-Pacific regions, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand later in June.

But that’s not all Diablo fans worldwide should get excited about. During the launch reveal, Blizzard also announced that Diablo Immortal will roll out to PC in open beta beginning June 2.

Even better, Diablo Immortal for mobile and PC will feature cross-play and cross-progression, allowing you to play with friends across different platforms. This also makes the game accessible to PC users who don’t own an iOS or Android phone capable of running the game smoothly, as well as those who simply prefer to play games on a much larger screen.

The PC version of Immortal will introduce WASD controls for those who want to play on mouse and keyboard. Alternatively, there’s controller support on PC and mobile as well.

For those unfamiliar, Diablo Immortal is set between the events of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo 3. The game will add new characters and storylines to the Diablo lore and introduce new content that should keep players occupied (until Diablo 4’s release).

And to address the elephant in the room, it’s unclear just how microtransaction-heavy Immortal will be when its final form arrives. Considering that the game was initially marketed to mobile gamers, loot boxes and virtual currency might result in monetization overkill. On a positive note, our early experience with the closed beta suggested that the game’s purchasable content may be limited to exclusive cosmetics. It didn’t feel like a pay-to-win game at all.
