This may be our best look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 yet

SAMSUNG just announced the new Galaxy J7 Pro for the Philippine market last week, in case you haven’t heard. And while the self-described pro-sumer phone is promising in many respects, the only Samsung device that really interests us at this time of year is the one Sammy will make a big fuss of next.

We’re talking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, of course. Assuming Samsung’s still okay with using the Note moniker, though the announcement of the Note 7 FE — to be sure, the FE stands for “Fandom Edition” in South Korea — is as clear a sign as any. We know we don’t have to remind you about the last time Samsung came out with a stylus-centric phone.

Back to the Note 8: The rumor mill is already operating at full blast, and we’re now seeing renders reveal the design of the upcoming Galaxy flagship. The latest — and arguably, most convincing — of which comes from Twitter user @ZyadAtef12, who posted several images of the device wearing a protective case.

Case makers, as you may have gathered, get the dimensions and button layout of devices in advance, so they can start manufacturing accessories en masse. Thus, it’s very possible that these photos are the real deal.

Unsurprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will likely incorporate the same almost-bezel-less design introduced by the Galaxy S8 and S8+, but the edges are more boxy, less rounded and soft, and the back has two cameras, confirming what many have been waiting for. Finally, Samsung has a dual-camera phone to call its own. Not that we’re complaining, as we’d be more than happy to use the S8 or S8+ as our backup camera, regardless of the conditions.

Unfortunately, these photos also seem to confirm the presence of a rear-facing fingerprint reader, further backing claims that Samsung isn’t going to break new ground by integrating the sensor into the display, similar to what Apple is reportedly planning with the iPhone 8.

The third button on the left-hand side suggests Bixby will again be one of the focus areas of Samsung’s next premium phone. For the company’s sake, everyone’s least favorite digital assistant better be ready for the spotlight this time around.

These latest photos don’t show it, but the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to sport a 6.3-inch AMOLED display and either an Exynos 8895 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip depending on the market. It is said the phone will launch sometime in August or September. In any case, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information.
