To celebrate the launching of the official Xiaomi online store on Shopee Philippines, a flash sale for one of Xiaomi’s most popular smartphone models will be held weeks from now.

The date to circle is April 4, and the sale event is scheduled to take place at 12 p.m. Up for grabs will be the base Xiaomi Redmi 5 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable memory for a bargain price of P5,990 (around $114). It’s also worth noting this particular variant isn’t officially available in the country at the moment. We’re guessing this is a Shopee exclusive for now, just as the P4,390 ($84) Xiaomi Redmi 5A is exclusive to Lazada Philippines.

The flash sale is scheduled to take place at 12 p.m. on April 4. Up for grabs will be the Xiaomi Redmi 5 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable memory for a bargain price of P5,990 (around $114).

The Redmi 5 with 3GB RAM and double the storage is priced at P7,990 $(153) locally, while the Redmi 5 Plus, which features a bigger screen and faster internals, can be yours for P9,990 ($191). Both are already available in authorized stores here.

Glancing at the specs, the Redmi 5 is fronted by a 5.7-inch touchscreen sporting a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The rear and front cameras are rated at 12 and 5 megapixels, respectively. There’s a fingerprint reader on the back panel, too.

Powering the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor — and the rest of the assembly — is a 3,300mAh battery. With this much juice, you shouldn’t have any problems getting through a full work day on a single charge. True enough, in our Redmi 5 review, we found that the smartphone easily lasts a day with normal use. The software is Android Nougat with Xiaomi’s own MIUI 9 interface built on top of it.
