ASUS Philippines has begun teasing the ROG Phone, which launched in June at Computex 2018, indicating that a local launch is imminent.

Philippine release of the ASUS ROG Phone teased

The ASUS ROG Phone is the company’s long-awaited gaming phone. In September, it launched in China with a price tag of ¥5,999 (about P47,375 or $873) for the base version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, while pricing for the 512GB storage model was set at ¥7,999 (P63,169 or $1,165).

The E-Sports Limited Edition variant that ships with four accessories — TwinView Dock, Gamevice controller, AeroActive Cooler, and Mobile Desktop Dock — was priced at a whopping ¥12,999 (P102,655 or $1,892). It’s plausible that the prices for the Chinese market are similar to those in the Philippines.

According to an official poster published on Twitter, ASUS North America will hold an event in New York on October 18 to unveil the ROG Phone stateside. Will ASUS’ Philippine outfit also schedule an ROG Phone launch in October? We’ll have to wait and see.


ASUS ROG Phone goes to the United States

As for the hardware itself, the ASUS ROG Phone features aggressive styling and fancy RGB lighting. Its design also allows for better handling, which is crucial to gaming phones that tend to be held in the hand longer than other devices.

Inside, the phone pairs an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 with the industry’s first 3D-vapor-chamber cooling system for sustained peak performance at elevated temperatures. The 6-inch OLED screen has an impressive 90Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, while the battery, rated at 4,000mAh, supports fast charging up to 30 watts.
