On May 3, we exclusively reported that the Vivo Y17, a budget phone with triple rear cameras and a giant 5,000mAh battery, will be launching in the Philippines. Well, now, it’s finally here.

Vivo Philippines today announced on social media that the Y17 is now available in stores for P12,999, or roughly $248 converted. Which is a pretty reasonable price given what this phone has to offer and how nice it looks compared to most other budget handsets.

Talking about its exterior, the Vivo Y17 features a refreshing gradient design in blue or purple over a sheet of glass or plastic that looks like glass. The front sports narrow side bezels and a fairly small chin, so it has a clean, modern look. It also has a notched screen that measures 6.35 inches and runs a resolution of 1,544 x 720. A sharp 20-megapixel selfie camera is housed in the notch area.

Vivo Y17 for ‘capturing unlimited moments’

Meanwhile, the cameras on the back includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor behind an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel depth-sensing unit to give bokeh shots a more natural look.

Powering this Vivo model is a Helio P35 processor from MediaTek, which uses PowerVR GE8320 graphics and is paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The Helio P35 is comparable to Qualcomm’s lower-tier chips in the Snapdragon 600 series, so gaming performance should be decent. The battery, as we noted before, is a massive 5,000mAh unit, though it can be charged with an 18-watt fast wall adapter.

If you’re in the market for a new smartphone with respectable specs across the board and a conservative price tag, the Vivo Y17 might be one worth considering.
