Right after the global version of the Vivo V19 got launched, a lesser-specced smartphone from the company has been announced, too.

Priced at $249 or around P12,616, the Vivo Y50 is already up for preorder in Cambodia until April 11. Whether the handset will arrive in the Philippines — and soon — is another matter, as the COVID-19-related lockdown has been extended to April 30.

The Vivo Y50 reminds us of the new V19 because of the L-shaped camera module on the back. The system has four sensors as well, but they have lower megapixel counts. A 13-megapixel main cam is paired with 8-megapixel ultra-wide, 2-megapixel depth, and 2-megapixel macro shooters.

Up front is a punch-hole camera on the upper-left side of the LCD screen, which measures 6.53 inches.

Inside Vivo‘s Y50 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, which is the same as what’s used by devices such as the Realme 5i, Realme 5, and OPPO A9 2020. The chipset is mated to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. And powering the unit is a 5,000mAh battery.

There’s a Starry Black color variant, but our eyes are drawn to the Iris Blue model. Then again, who knows? The black version could be more attractive in person.
