Nokia-brand licensee HMD Global had a big day, launching six smartphones plus the Nokia Lite Earbuds TWS earphones that will be available from mid-April for €75 (around P4,342 in Philippine pesos or $89 in U.S. dollars). The company is streamlining its budget lineup and at the same time expanding it to include 5G models.

The new C series handsets include the Nokia C10 and Nokia C20 and run on basic Android 11 (Go edition). Meanwhile, the Nokia G10 and Nokia G20 as well as the Nokia X10 and Nokia X20 bring the full Android 11 experience and are guaranteed to receive three years of monthly security updates. The G series models are built around the MediaTek Helio G25 and Helio G35, respectively, whereas the X10 and X20 are powered by Qualcomm’s most affordable 5G chipset ever, the Snapdragon 480, just like the recently announced OPPO A74 5G.

Nokia C10 and Nokia C20

Both the Nokia C10 and C20 pack 6.52-inch HD+ LCD displays with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 2D Panda Glass protection, and 400 nits of peak brightness. Being entry-level models aimed at consumers upgrading from a feature phone, they don’t have a fingerprint sensor or multiple cameras at the back. Instead, you get a single 5-megapixel camera on both ends with HDR support and AI-enhanced beautification.

Besides color options, the main difference between the two comes down to their chipsets. The C10 uses a quad-core Unisoc SC7331E SoC, while the C20 has an octa-core Unisoc SC9863A. Both processors ship with up to 2GB RAM and come with a 3,000mAh battery that charges over microUSB.

Nokia G10 and Nokia G20

Like the C series phones, the G10 and G20 sport 6.52-inch HD+ LCD panels with a waterdrop-style cutout at the top. The Nokia G10 is backed by a MediaTek Helio G25 with up to 4GB RAM, while the Nokia G20 upgrades to a Helio G35 that has up to 4GB RAM and as much as 128GB of expandable storage.

The latter is likewise equipped with quad cameras at the back headlined by a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a dedicated ultra-wide shooter, which you don’t get on the G10. So if you’re after a more well-rounded smartphone that can take higher-quality pictures and video, the G20 is better suited for your needs. Both devices have a fingerprint scanner as well as a 5,050mAh battery, which HMD Global says can keep them running up to three days.

The X10 and X20 enter the market as the latest budget 5G offerings from HMD Global. They pack 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD screens and four cameras at the back with Zeiss optics and identical secondary cameras for ultra-wide, portrait, and macro shots. HMD has also opted for 4,470mAh cells in these models, which support 18-watt fast charging over USB-C.

The most notable difference lies in their camera systems; the X20 gets a 64-megapixel rear camera and a 32-megapixel unit for selfies and video chats. Both sensors are much sharper than what the X10 offers.
