The “republic” is growing. Five months after the ROG Phone 5 series debuted, ASUS has introduced a new phone lineup for mobile gamers looking to up their game.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5s and ASUS ROG Phone 5s Pro have been launched with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chip inside, making the series the second to use the new SoC after the Xiaomi MIX 4. The Snapdragon 888 Plus gets incremental upgrades, including a Prime core that’s operating at up to 2.995GHz, up from the regular 888’s 2.84GHz. Here, it’s paired with a maximum of 18GB of RAM and as much as 512GB of storage.

The 6.78-inch Super AMOLED screen with a super-high refresh rate of 144Hz and protected by the more durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus may be similar to those of the previous models. However, the latency has dropped to 24ms with touch sampling improving from 300Hz to 360Hz, which should make the display more responsive.

Other than those specs we already mentioned, the rest of the features of the ASUS ROG Phone 5s and ASUS ROG Phone 5s Pro are the same as what the ROG Phone 5 series offers. You’re even looking at a familiar design. The vanilla version gets the regular LED ROG logo on the back, while the Pro variant sports the fancy ROG Vision, which is a customizable, dynamic matrix display.
