A Vivo Y series phone that was launched in Thailand in March 2021 has landed in the Philippines.

(Update, October 5: The Vivo Y72 5G is now available through Globe Postpaid, too!)

The Vivo Y72 5G is now being offered by local telecommunications company Smart Communications. Subscribe to the telco’s Smart Signature Plan 1499 and just add P100 (around $2) to the P1,499 ($30) you are going to pay per month for two years, and you can have this smartphone with a free premium Bluetooth speaker. A caveat: There’s a one-time P1,810 ($36) cash out here.

Smart Signature Plan 1499 comes with 10GB of data allocation a month, along with Unli AllNet Calls & Texts and 100 minutes worth of calls to any PLDT number.

We’re not sure if this is going to be offered by Globe Telecom, too. Or if the unit will be sold in prepaid. Just an FYI: In Thailand, the Vivo Y72 5G is priced at ฿9,999 (P15,121 or $299).

Announcement of the Vivo Y72 5G’s Philippine availability

The Vivo Y72 5G is the first 5G-ready Y series phone in the Philippines. It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The battery is big at 5,000mAh, which is good because enabling 5G consumes power faster. And if you need to charge, at least there’s support for 18-watt fast charging via USB-C here.

Other specs and features of the smartphone include a 64-megapixel triple camera, a 16-megapixel selfie sensor, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Funtouch OS 11.1.
