There’s a new 5G-ready Vivo Y series phone, and we expect more of its kind as we transition to a world powered by 5G.

(Update, December 1: Check out the Vivo Y76 5G’s price, specs, and availability in the Philippines!)

The Vivo Y76 5G has debuted in Malaysia, with the handset possibly launching in other international markets like the Philippines as well. It’s priced at RM1,299, or roughly P15,687 or $309, for the lone model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As with Vivo‘s other smartphones, there’s virtual RAM (or borrowed memory from the storage) here, further extending it to 12GB for a smoother user experience.

One of the key highlights of the Y76 is its support for 44-watt fast charging, a feature that should allow the 4,100mAh battery to go from 0% to 70% in just 32 minutes. At least according to the company. While we have yet to check that out for ourselves, we believe it’s true, based on our experience reviewing devices that offer rapid charging.

And then there’s the 50-megapixel main rear sensor joined by 2-megapixel depth-sensing and 2-megapixel macro cameras. The front-facing one, on the other hand, has 16 megapixels.

Other features of the slim Vivo Y76 5G include a 6.58-inch screen, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a user interface that’s based on Android 11. Powering everything is a MediaTek Dimensity 700, the same chip that’s inside devices such as the Realme 8 5G, Xiaomi POCO M3 Pro 5G, and Vivo Y52 5G, which has just landed in the Philippines via Globe Telecom.

Vivo has partnered with Moonton’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang for the Vivo Y76 5G
