Vivo has launched its second foldable phone barely six months since the first one was announced.

The Vivo X Fold Plus is now official in China, bearing the same outwards-folding book-style design as the Vivo X Fold and coming in a new red option for those who want something more “extra” than the subtle blue and black color variants — and still wrapped in that premium-looking, faux-leather material.

This one’s more powerful, as it should be, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 5G chipset manning all processing tasks. The SoC is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and as much as 512GB of storage. And the battery is now quite bigger at 4,730mAh, giving you around two more hours to watch videos. Charging the Vivo X Fold Plus should be faster, too, thanks to its support for 80-watt wired charging.

The two 120Hz AMOLED screens of the foldable smartphone measure 8 inches and 6.53 inches, respectively, and both are embedded with ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. We love that the device can stay open at several angles. 30 degrees? Yes. 90? Yes. 120? Yes as well.

The Vivo X Fold Plus likewise features a 50-megapixel quad-camera system on the back, a 16-megapixel selfie shooter, and a user interface that’s based on Android 12.

In China, the version with 256GB storage is priced at ¥9,999 (roughly P82,167 in Philippine pesos and $1,395 in U.S. dollars) while the unit with 512GB storage costs ¥10,999 (P90,382 or $1,535). The non-Plus foldable was not released outside China, so we’re hoping that that won’t be the case this time around.
