Less than a week after the Vivo Y35 became available in the Philippines, Vivo has released another Y series phone yet again, and it’s priced at P8,499 (roughly $148).

(Update, May 7, 2023: The vivo Y16 gets a price drop in the Philippines!)

According to the company, you can now buy the Vivo Y16 from its website, Lazada, Shopee, TikTok Shop, or any of its offline stores and kiosks. However, if you’re one of the early birds to purchase the handset online, you get a free DITO SIM card and Foomee QA05 earphones.

Here in the Philippines, Vivo is targeting the Y16 at users who are after a large storage, so they can “continuously create and save memories without the fear of running out of space.” The model that’s being sold now is the version with 4GB of RAM, 1GB of extended RAM, and 128GB of storage, which is expandable up to 1TB. The variant with 64GB RAM will become available at a later date.

The Vivo Y16 likewise features a 5,000mAh battery with 5V/1A reverse-charging feature and a 6.51-inch HD Halo (read: waterdrop) FullView screen with a brightness-adjustment function that can minimize eye strain. Inside the notch is a 5-megapixel camera with a selfie soft-light feature called Aura Screen Light that, when turned on, helps you take bright selfies even in low-light conditions.

You also get a 2.5D curvature for a comfortable grip, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a user interface based on Android 12, a MediaTek Helio P35 processor, and obviously, a stylish design in the youthful Drizzling Gold color variant and the shooting-star-pattern-inspired Stellar Black shade.
