Two new POCO smartphones have gone official on the global stage.

Both are targeted at entertainment-loving Gen-Z users — the Pro, for content creators, and the non-Pro, for content consumers. The prices indicate that the devices are indeed for the youth.

POCO X5 Pro 5G

In a first for the POCO X series, the 7.9mm-thin POCO X5 Pro 5G debuts with what the brand calls a Flow AMOLED screen, a flexible display technology that makes the unit lighter. The panel measures 6.67 inches and offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3, 10-bit color depth, Dolby Vision, and 1,920Hz PWM dimming.

There’s a 108-megapixel main rear camera here that’s assisted by an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The 5,000mAh battery supposedly supports more than 5.5 hours of 4K shooting. And with 67-watt fast charging, all you need is around 7 minutes to get the smartphone’s battery level to 30%.

At the heart of the lineup’s slimmest model yet is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor, which figured well in the latest best-performing Android midranger rankings.

Specs

  • 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass 5
  • 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G with 5G
  • Adreno 642L GPU
  • 6GB/8GB RAM
  • 128GB/256GB storage
  • Triple 108-megapixel main, 8-megapixel ultrawide, 2-megapixel macro cameras
  • 16-megapixel front camera
  • Side fingerprint sensor
  • 5,000mAh battery with 67-watt fast charging
  • Dual speakers
  • X-axis linear motor
  • MIUI 14 based on Android 12
  • Colors: Yellow, Blue, Black

POCO X5 5G

The non-Pro variant is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, the same SoC that’s inside the newly launched HONOR X9a 5G and the upcoming Realme 10 Pro 5G and OPPO Reno8 T 5G.

Light enough at 189 grams, the POCO X5 5G also comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. But it’s 8-bit and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 instead of Gorilla Glass 5.

The rear camera system is composed of a 48-megapixel primary sensor and 8- and 2-megapixel shooters for ultrawide and macro shots. The battery capacity is still 5,000mAh, but fast charging now maxes out at 33 watts.
