POCO today unveiled the spiritual successor to the M5 series — the POCO M6 Pro 5G. As expected, the phone arrives as a rebrand of the Redmi 12 5G, which debuted in India earlier this week.

It is the third phone under the Xiaomi brand that is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 platform, after the China-exclusive Redmi Note 12R and the Redmi 12 5G.

Comparing the Redmi 12 5G and POCO M6 Pro 5G, the most notable difference between the two is the back cover and camera setup. The latter flaunts POCO’s signature rectangular camera module that extends from side to side, whereas the Redmi model has a more basic design but packs a secondary sensor for ultrawide shots.

In India, the POCO M6 Pro 5G carries a suggested retail price of ₹10,999 (around P7,388 or $133) and ₹12,999 (P8,731 or $157) for the 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB variants, respectively.

Unlike its Redmi counterpart, the smartphone won’t be offered with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It will be available for purchase on Flipkart from August 9 in two colors — Forest Green and Power Black.

Coming to the processor, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is Qualcomm’s first budget SoC built on a 4nm fabrication process for better performance and power efficiency compared with competing chips. The octa-core chipset is clocked at up to 2.2GHz and paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

Like the Redmi 12 5G, the POCO M6 Pro 5G arrives with a 6.79-inch FHD+ LCD display. The screen has a 90Hz refresh rate and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. As for the cameras, you get a 50-megapixel main camera at the back and an 8-megapixel punch-hole camera for selfies.
