Realme 5i gets benchmarked; key specs confirmed before launch

The Realme 5i will launch January 6 as the brand’s first smartphone offering for the new year.

We already know a few things about the device, thanks to recent leaks, but its listing on the Geekbench benchmark database has confirmed some key specs, including the chipset it will use.

The Realme 5i, which has the model number RMX2030, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and Android 9.0 Pie, likely based on ColorOS 6, out of the box.

According to benchmark results available on the Geekbench version 4 database, the Realme 5i recorded 1,543 and 5,602 points in the single- and multi-core tests. Using Geekbench 5, the phone posted 314 and 1,389 points in the same tests. Those scores are in line with other devices built around the Snapdragon 665.

In related news, Vietnamese online retailer FPTShop has posted renders of the Realme 5i, confirming its front and back design, as well as its color options. The website also states the upcoming handset has almost identical features as the Realme 5, except the selfie camera is 8 megapixels and the back cover doesn’t flaunt a crystal pattern.

That said, it’s pretty clear the Realme 5i will be positioned as the cheapest in the series and should pose as an attractive entry point for consumers looking to upgrade from a feature phone. You might recall that the Realme 5 launched in the Philippines with a starting price of P6,990 or around $138.
