UPDATE, 1:20 p.m.: Sony has sent us an email with a full list of participating stores in the Philippines. Check out the list of retailers: Avid Sales Corp., Sony brand store on Lazada (via AVID), iTech, Gameline, Metro Plaza, Abenson, Game One, Datablitz, and GameXtreme.

Local console and video-game retailers DataBlitz and Game One have announced preorder details for the Sony PlayStation 5, which will launch in the Philippines December 11. The PS5 has a suggested retail price of P27,990 (around $580) in the Philippines.

According to the email sent to us by DataBlitz and Game One’s official Facebook page, local PS5 online preorders will have a five-minute window, from 2 p.m. to 2:05 p.m. (or until stocks last), and will be limited to one slot per customer. Both retailers also say that stocks are in short supply; hence, the limitations. Using different accounts and email addresses will also result in orders getting cancelled to avoid hoarding and cut down on scalping.

You’ll find a summary of what you need to know below.

  • Unique link (from the newsletter) required

Previously, Game One offered the Microsoft Xbox Series S on its website, and stocks of Microsoft’s most affordable next-gen console quickly ran out. We’re guessing that it won’t take long before PS5 units are sold out across online platforms where it is on offer at a reasonable price. Our advice: If you’re getting one, be sure to have plenty of browser tabs active.

We’ll update this story once we hear from other console and video-game retailers in the country.

So, are you getting a Sony PlayStation 5 at launch in the Philippines? Let us know if you manage to secure an order. Good luck to all of us!
