Just when you thought the week couldn’t get any more exciting for mobile news, Huawei today announced the domestic prices of its latest P20 lineup. The news comes several days before the Chinese OEM’s launch event on April 28.

In the Philippines, the Huawei P20 Pro, P20, and P20 Lite will be priced at P44,990 (around $864), P34,990 ($672), and P15,990 ($307), in that order. Those prices are actually reasonable considering what these notch phones are capable of.

Preorders happen between April 21 and 27, while the first day of retail availability will be on April 28. Early adopters of the Huawei P20 Pro and P20 will receive a Canon compact WiFi printer, while those who are getting the P20 Lite ahead of retail release are entitled to a gift set from Huawei.

To recap, let’s briefly go over each phone and what they have to offer.

Huawei’s 2018 flagship spares no expense in providing what is said to be the best camera system on a mobile device. It features three cameras around the back. Notably, you get a 40-megapixel camera for color. There’s a 20-megapixel monochrome camera for extra detail, as well as an 8-megapixel shooter with a zoom lens for up to 3x magnification without any degradation in detail.

The P20 Pro’s main camera module also features low-light sensitivity of up to 102,400, which is higher than what some professional cameras can manage. The selfie camera has 24 megapixels and delivers good performance in dimmer settings.

The resulting images from those advanced systems earned the Huawei P20 Pro the highest mark ever awarded to a mobile device by independent camera-testing website DxOMark.

The site handed the device an overall score of 109, which is 10 points more than the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and 12 points higher than the Apple iPhone X for the same tests. The Huawei P20, with its dual cameras, was awarded 102 points — good enough for second on the list.

Huawei P20 Pro specs:

  • 6.1-inch OLED display; 2,244 x 1,080 resolution (18.7:9)
  • HiSilicon Kirin 970
  • 6GB RAM
  • 128GB expandable storage
  • Triple rear cameras (40MP color + 20MP monochrome + 8MP telephoto) with dual-tone LED flash
  • 24-megapixel front camera
  • 4,000mAh battery
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Android 8.1 Oreo

On the outside, the P20 shares a lot of similarities with the Pro version, only the rear-facing system drops to two cameras instead of three. Not a reason to worry, though, as the P20’s DxOMark ranking will tell you. The screen is slightly smaller, too, and Huawei’s using LCD on this co-flagship.

Inside, the Huawei P20 arrives with the same Kirin 970 chipset as the P20 Pro and Mate 10 phones. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, of which 108GB will be available to users out of the box. Huawei’s EMUI 8.1 Android skin based on Android 8.1 Oreo is the operating system of choice here.

Huawei P20 specs:

  • 5.8-inch LCD display; 2,244 x 1,080 resolution (18.7:9)
  • HiSilicon Kirin 970
  • 4GB RAM
  • 128GB expandable storage
  • Dual rear cameras (12MP color + 20MP monochrome) with dual-tone LED flash
  • 24-megapixel front camera
  • 3,400mAh battery
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Android 8.1 Oreo

The P20 Lite brings the aesthetics of the P20 series to the midrange and at a fraction of the cost of its premium counterparts. That said, the Huawei P20 Lite looks much more expensive than it really is, sporting a high-gloss back and a notch display on the flip side. As with the other P20 handsets, the front and back are made of glass, and a metal frame holds the chassis together.

The backing sees two cameras stacked on a vertical axis. The selfie camera that occupies the notch at the top of the 5.8-inch screen is 16 megapixels, paired with f/2.0 aperture.

The P20 Lite runs Android Oreo on a Kirin 659 processor, the same platform that powers the Nova 2i, among other Huawei releases. The 3,000mAh battery is topped up through a Type-C port, which is always a welcome inclusion in this segment.

  • Kirin 659 processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB expandable storage
  • Dual rear cameras (16MP + 2MP) with LED flash
