The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is now official for the Indian market. And as expected, the newly launched smartphone punches well above its price class in terms of specs and features.

Heck, it’s the cheapest device carrying the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, one of the fastest, most powerful processors you can get on an Android right now. For perspective, the Snapdragon 845 is the same silicon that powers heavy hitters like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (in China and the U.S. at least), OPPO Find X, Vivo NEX, OnePlus 6, and of course, Xiaomi’s own Mi 8 and MIX 2S.

Pocophone (or simply “Poco”) has paired the top-of-the-line processor with liquid-cooling technology that is said to protect the device against overheating and allows it to run at peak capacity for longer periods of time. It also packs Adreno 630 graphics, up to 8GB RAM, and as much as 256GB storage.

There’s also a 4,000mAh battery that can juice up quickly over a Type-C connection using the bundled 18-watt wall charger. The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 features a 6.18-inch, 1080p notched screen in 18.7:9 aspect ratio, too.

Meanwhile, the back-facing cameras are equipped with 12- and 5-megapixel sensors that sit behind an f/1.9 lens. For selfies, there’s a 20-megapixel camera with f/2.0 lens squeezed into the notch. It’s joined by an infrared camera and illuminator for accurate face unlocking. The Pocophone F1 even includes stereo speakers — with the second speaker being the earpiece.

And all this for as low as ₹20,999 (around P16,068 or $300) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The highest-specced model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage costs ₹28,999 (P22,190 or $415); it’s still a ridiculous value on paper.

Steel Blue, Rosso Red, Graphite Black are your standard choice of colors, but there’s also an Armored Edition with Kevlar backing for ₹29,999 (P22,955 or $429).

The phone will be available in Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Paris from August 27. India will get it starting August 29th. As for the Philippine market, we’ve been told by a source familiar with the company’s local plans that the phone will be available here “soon,” though there’s no final timeline yet. So stay tuned and cross those fingers for more information in the coming weeks.
