It has already been confirmed through its latest financial report that Razer is working on a sequel to its original gaming smartphone. Now, we have an official launch date for the highly anticipated Razer Phone 2, merely days after the alleged phone was spotted on the Antutu Benchmark and Geekbench databases.

The company has sent out invitations to an October 10 event, where it’s likely to take the stage and announce the second-generation Razer Phone. Notably, the supposed device will debut a day after Google makes its next Pixel devices official, and one day before Samsung launches what is touted to be the Korean OEM’s first quad-camera phone (or phones?) under the rumored Galaxy A9 series.

If you are counting, that’s three major announcements in one week. Both LG and Huawei have also confirmed that their big-screen flagships will be announced in October 2018. Fortunately for the Razer Phone 2, plenty of eyes will be watching to see what it has to offer this time round.

The first Razer Phone paired a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor — as fast as you’ll find in any Android phone last year — with an ultra-responsive, 120Hz touchscreen measuring 5.7 inches. There’s little doubt the Razer Phone 2 will launch with something similar, if not even bigger and better.

An alleged render of the gaming handset shows a boxy, industrial aesthetic and thick bezels from the sides, as well as stereo speakers on the top and bottom. A year hasn’t changed things much; the Razer Phone 2 bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor — at least on the front. It’s also been rumored the phone will be sporting a 5.7-inch screen again.

According to its benchmark listing, the device will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box on a Snapdragon 845 mated to 8GB RAM and a massive 512GB of storage. The screen may have a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440.

Whatever the case, we’ll have all the details as soon as they’re officially revealed in a few short weeks.
