Following the release of the Apple iPhone XS And iPhone XS Max in the Philippines, Globe Telecom today announced the local availability of the iPhone XR.

The Philippine-based telecom company said it will be offered from November 16, with preorders on November 9. Globe has yet to disclose its postpaid plans for the latest iPhone for the “masses,” but it will probably be revealed sometime before the start of the pre-sale period.

Smart Communications, the other half of the country’s telecom duopoly, will presumably offer the iPhone XR also, but we haven’t heard anything official as of this writing. We’ll update this story as soon as we get a confirmation.

Local off-contract pricing, on the other hand, was announced a while back, with the Apple iPhone XR set to go on sale from P50,990 (around $958) for 64GB storage. The 128GB and 256GB models are priced at P53,990 ($1,014) and P60,490 ($1,136), respectively.

Apple offers plenty of colors to choose from — white, black, coral, blue, yellow, and red. Full retail availability is also likely set for November 16.

Despite its much cheaper price tag, the Apple iPhone XR still features an edge-to-edge display, like the iPhone X and iPhone XS models, and the company’s powerful six-core A12 Bionic processor, which is said to be 15 percent faster than its predecessor.

It’s water-resistant to iP67 standards, too, and supports wireless and fast wired charging, thanks to its glass back. The rear sports a single camera that pairs a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens for bokeh and portrait pictures with variable depth of field. The selfie camera is still 7 megapixels.

The phone’s potential battery life is another huge selling point this year. Apple estimates up to 15 hours of browsing and 16 hours of video playback on the iPhone XR. In real-world use, it should last up to an hour and a half longer than the iPhone 8 Plus from the previous year.
