ASUS Philippines has done it again. The Taiwanese company has launched a smartphone that’s powerful as it is aggressively priced.

The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is now official, the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage of which is already available for preorder from Lazada and Shopee at just P12,995 (roughly $246). This makes this ZenFone the most affordable device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660, the same processor that’s found inside the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, which costs as low as P13,990 ($265); the P13,990 Xiaomi Mi A2, and the ₹13,990 (P10,437 or $193) Realme 2 Pro. Here in the Philippines, at least.

Offline, at ASUS and ZenFone concept stores and kiosks nationwide, you can buy the version with 6GB of RAM. It’s priced at only P14,995 ($284). Still a sweet deal.

The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 will be available starting this Saturday, December 15 — clearly a departure from most of their past release timelines. The waiting time between the launch and release dates is usually long. Keep it up, ASUS.

The ZenFone Max Pro M2, which runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo, boasts two AI cameras on the back — 12 megapixels paired with 5 megapixels. A 13-megapixel megapixel selfie shooter sits in the notch at the top of its big, 6.3-inch screen.

Of course, being part of the Max lineup, we’re not surprised that it features a sizable battery rated at 5,000mAh. It’s interesting, though, that this is the first smartphone in the series to be marketed as an all-rounder, complete with cameras that take great pictures.
