Samsung has made the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 official in India, where the two new A series phones will launch on February 28. The announcement follows the launch of the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 budget phones in the subcontinent.

The Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 offer midrange specifications and features without the heavy price tag, although Samsung has yet to reveal pricing and availability for its new models. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long, as Samsung’s A series event in India is just two days away.

The Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50 are fairly similar inside and out. Both handsets have fairly large 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screens with a small, round notch at the top and a diagonal resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels for a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The two also boast fingerprint sensors for convenient unlocking. But while the Galaxy A50’s is fancier and embedded under the display, the Galaxy A30 has a physical one at the back. Facial recognition is available as an alternative on the Galaxy A30, though we’re not sure if it’s on board the Galaxy A50 as well.

Inside, the Galaxy A30, being the cheaper of the two, is powered by Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 7904 with 3GB or 4GB RAM and up to 64GB of native storage. The Galaxy A50 steps up to an Exynos 9610 chipset with four powerful Cortex-A73 cores and four mid-tier Cortex-A53 cores. The RAM varies between 4GB and 6GB, alongside 64GB or 128GB of storage.

Regardless of which configuration you go with, the memory is expandable via a microSD card slot. Both phones also carry a 4,000mAh battery that can do fast charging with the right charger.

Another significant — and obvious — distinction is in the camera spec. The Galaxy A30 comes with a dual-sensor array consisting of a 16-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle secondary camera. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A50 is equipped with a 25-megapixel primary camera, along with an 8-megapixel wide option for landscape and group shots and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.
