While we wait for Huawei’s announcement of the Mate 30 series on September 19, the tech giant unveiled a refreshed Huawei P30 Pro draped in two new two-tone finishes at IFA 2019. The annual tech convention in Berlin also became the jump-off point for the new Kirin 990 processor with an integrated 5G chip, which will be used to power the Mate 30.

The new variant of Huawei‘s five-camera flagship comes in either Mystic Blue or Misty Lavender, and both combine matte and glossy surfaces, as opposed to all-glass backs. Obviously, they look nice, but the updated P30 Pro also reminds us of the Google Pixel 3, which is due for an upgrade next month.

The newly launched Huawei P30 Pro in Mystic Blue and Misty Lavender

Perhaps more interestingly, the redesigned phone will arrive with EMUI 10 based on Android 10, although it’s been reported that the delivery time of the software update may vary. Existing P30 Pro units, including the Amber Sunrise version launched last month in the Philippines, run Huawei’s custom interface built around Android 9.0 Pie. The company earlier said the P30 series will be the first to get the EMUI 10 public beta September 8th.

It remains to be seen if Huawei will distribute the final version of EMUI 10 soon, but the announcement of a P30 Pro with the promise of Android 10 certainly puts pressure on the manufacturer to get it out of the gates as soon as possible.

The internals of the new Huawei P30 Pro remain the same as the existing model’s, so it will ship with a Kirin 980, a 6.47-inch curved OLED screen, and a quad-camera system on the back, as well as Google’s licensed app suite. Huawei has yet to share the exact pricing or availability for its updated yet outgoing flagship.
