We’ve already known since September that the Black Shark 2 Pro is going to be available in the Philippines. The question back then was when the exact date will be. Today, we finally know that the local release of the Black Shark 2 Pro should be anytime soon.
Xiaomi Philippines has started teasing the gaming phone that debuted July 20 in China, where the 12GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB models are priced at ¥2,999 (around P21,686 or $427) and ¥3,999 (P28,917 or $569), respectively.
Xiaomi-backed Black Shark 2 Pro’s Southeast Asia launch. Talk about the gaming phone itself starts at the 13:25 mark
Just like the ASUS ROG Phone 2, the Black Shark 2 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s most powerful commercially available chip today, the Snapdragon 855 Plus. The chip has dominated benchmark rankings since its release, so this Black Shark should be able to handle even the most graphics-intensive games.
The successor to the Black Shark 2 gets a slightly updated look that improves operation and ergonomics. Its 6.39-inch AMOLED screen has been upgraded to lower touch latency from 43.5ms to 34.7ms. The dual-camera setup is still there. However, there’s now a 13-megapixel secondary rear camera instead of 12 megapixels. The battery remains relatively decent at 4,000mAh with support for 27-watt fast charging.
The Black Shark 2 Pro comes in the traditional black-green and silver colors, but there are many back covers to choose from, including custom variants designed in partnership with Chinese esports team LNG Esports. We’re just not sure if those will be sold in the Philippines. Stay tuned for more updates!
