Vivo has dropped the price of the Y15 in the Philippines, bringing it down to a much more reasonable price point to begin the new year.

A toned-down version of the Helio P35-based Y17 that came before it, the Vivo Y15 now retails at P7,999 (around $157) at Vivo stores and authorized retailers nationwide. The phone was originally priced at P10,999 ($216) when it launched in the country in June 2019. It is available in Aqua Blue and Burgundy Red colors.

Specs-wise, the Vivo Y15 boasts a Helio P22 from MediaTek, instead of a Helio P35. That processor is paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, both of which are plenty for a budget handset. The Y15 is also equipped with a 6.35-inch LCD screen with 1,544 x 720 resolution.

For taking pictures, it has a triple-camera setup on the back, with a 13-megapixel sensor as its main option and an ultra-wide 8-megapixel shooter with a 120-degree field of view taking care of landscape and group shots. The front-facing camera in the notch at the top bezel takes crisp selfies, thanks to its 16-megapixel sensor.

Another impressive spec is the 5,000mAh battery inside that can power the phone for days, not hours. It charges over a microUSB port that supports up to 10 watts. The phone also boasts a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel for easy and convenient unlocking.

With its lower price tag, the Vivo Y15 is looking like a compelling option for budget shoppers who can’t afford to spend too much on a new handset.
