Early this month, Samsung Electronics Philippines launched the Galaxy A71. But where’s the Samsung Galaxy A51, which was announced alongside the former in Vietnam in December 2019?

According to someone who’s privy to the Korean company’s local plans, the A51 is scheduled for an April availability in the Philippines. Unless the said plan changes, then you have around two months to save up for the smartphone — if you’ve been waiting for it, of course.
An indication that the Samsung Galaxy A51 is not going to be sold at any time soon lies in the manufacturer’s local website. The device has already been listed, but only on the support page. There’s no official product page for it just yet. And besides, Samsung has its hands full now, what with the local launch of its flagship Galaxy S20 series phones and the Galaxy Z Flip foldable.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 comes with five cameras — four on the back, headlined by a 48-megapixel sensor — and one in front. It boasts a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display and is powered by an Exynos 9611 processor paired with up to 6GB of RAM and as much as 128GB of storage. It also features a 4,500mAh battery that allows fast charging up to 25 watts and runs Samsung’s One UI skin on top of Android 10.
In Vietnam, the Galaxy A51 is priced starting at ₫7,990,000 (around P17,388 and $343. The base model will probably cost P17,990 ($355) in the Philippines — or P5,000 ($99) cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy A71.
