It turns out OPPO isn’t done launching new phones in April yet. After quietly making the OPPO A92s and Find X2 Lite official yesterday, the company has announced the OPPO A12 — and A92 — for the Indonesian market.

Unlike the others (and the likely soon-to-be-unveiled OPPO A52), which have mid-tier specs, the A12 is an affordable, entry-level smartphone powered by a MediaTek processor.

So just how affordable is OPPO’s newest entry in the A series? According to local listings, the OPPO A12 is priced at Rp2,499,000 (around P8,174 or $161) in Indonesia for the 4GB RAM variant. The cheaper 3GB version doesn’t have a price yet, but we’ll probably know tomorrow after the official online launch.

The official launch is scheduled for tomorrow, April 21

As of the specs, the chipset inside is a MediaTek Helio P35 with 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage. The Helio P35 is also used in the OPPO A31, which launched in the Philippines last month for P8,990 ($177). Unfortunately, the phone runs ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, even though Android 10-ColorOS 7 is already out for many OPPO devices, including the newly announced ones.

On the back, the OPPO A12 features a dual-camera setup that pairs a 13-megapixel camera with a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portrait shots. It also includes a physical fingerprint reader for secure authentication, as well as a reflective diamond-pattern design in black and blue colors.

The selfie camera in the waterdrop notch up front has a 5-megapixel sensor. The screen sports a 1,520 x 720 resolution across 6.22 inches and is layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top to protect the panel against scratches. Elsewhere, the OPPO A12 is equipped with a 4,230mAh battery for all-day battery life.
