Realme 7 5G with Dimensity 800U, 120Hz screen now official

Realme has launched an affordable 5G phone in the Realme 7 5G. Yes, another entry to Realme’s 7 series, but this time around, the focus, as you might have guessed, is 5G.

In Europe, the Realme 7 5G has a suggested retail price of £279 (around P17,882 or $371) for the base unit with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It will be available from November 27. The pricing and availability of the 8GB model has not been revealed yet. Do note that prices in European countries tend to be higher than in other parts of the world including the Philippines due to taxes and other fees.

The Realme 7 5G borrows its design from the regular Realme 7, but it is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset, which is fairly new on the market. The Dimensity 800U is a slightly watered-down version of the Dimensity 800 found in the OPPO Reno 4 Z 5G and should prove to be more powerful than the Helio G95 in the Realme 7.

Although both are built on a 7nm process, the Dimensity 800U features two Cortex-A76 “Big” cores, as compared with the four Cortex-A76 cores of the Dimensity 800. Additionally, the 800U has a triple-core Mali-G57 GPU, unlike the 800, which packs quad-core Mali-57 graphics.

However, early benchmarks scores suggest the two Dimensity 800 chips offer comparable performance in everyday tasks. MediaTek says the Dimensity 800U is 11% faster in CPU tests and 28% faster in GPU tests than the Dimensity 700 series in terms of benchmarks.

Obviously, the big addition here is 5G. Another highlight for many is the Realme 7 5G’s 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate

Obviously, the big addition here is 5G. The Realme 7 5G comes with dual-5G SIM support via an integrated modem, as well as power-saving technologies to help minimize the battery drain when using 5G data. With 5G networks on the rise across the globe, it’s not surprising that Realme is looking to capitalize on the global push for faster data with a device primed for mass-market adoption.

Another highlight for many is the Realme 7 5G’s 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate. Like the regular Realme 7, the 5G model also gets a single punch hole for the selfie camera. On the back, you have a quad-camera setup headlined by a 48-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide option. Other notable specs include a 5,000mAh battery that supports 30-watt fast charging and allows the battery to go from flat to full capacity in just 65 minutes; 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB storage; and Realme UI based on Android 10.
